Lake Havasu City Sportsman Club Sanctioned Events Guidance

The working definition of a sanctioned match or shoot for the Lake Havasu City Sportsman Club (LHCSC) is:

An organized event where scores and participation are formally recorded, tracked and reported. It can be a local, state, or national event that can include the LHCSC and other partners. Fees may or may not apply. These events can be open to the public but must be open to the members (exclusions for safety will apply). This does not include any training, commercial or civic entities who wish to utilize LHCSC ranges.

LHCSC currently sanctions these events.

Pistol:

  • SASS
  • Steel Challenge
  • USPSA
  • Left Out of Rio (annually)
  • Shootout at Aubrey Hills (annually)

Rifle:

  • ATC
  • CMP GSMM
  • F-Class
  • Center Fire Bench Rest
  • 50 YRD Rim Fire Benchrest
  • 100 YRD Rim Fire Benchrest
  • Members’ Choice

Shotgun:

  • Single Derby
  • Double Derby
  • ATA Big 50

Archery:

  • 3-D Target Shoot
  • 3-D Trail Shoot
  • Field Archery Shoot

Things needed for a Sanctioned match/shoot.

  • Responsible person or people.

This will be the go-to persons who are responsible for but not limited to the day-to-day operations of the event. This includes the tracking and reporting of participants. The collections of any fees. Forwarding any fees and associated paperwork. Ordering of supplies. Communicating with the board.

  • Program

What type of event is it. How is it done.

  • Available Time, Dates and Location.

Locate a location, time, and date that is not currently being used.

  • Interested Members.

Locate other LHCSC members who what to participate in the event.

  • Support from your division board members.

You will need the support of the division board members for the use of the range and supply orders.

  • Board approval.

Approach the board at the monthly meetings and present your ideals.

If you have done these steps (or at least what you can do) the process will be smoother. You should be prepared to answer questions at the meeting. Be prepared to attend multiple meetings if asked. Don’t be a stranger show up to meetings go to current events and talk about your ideals. You might find others to help support your event. There are somethings that just should not be done so be prepared for a No. LHCSC wants to help support its members with interesting and safe events.
